Optimal fruit thinning and CPPU spray boost kiwifruit yield and quality.
The study looked at how different amounts of a growth regulator called CPPU and fruit thinning affect the yield and quality of Allison and Hayward kiwifruit. They found that keeping 4 fruits per shoot and spraying with CPPU at 10 ppm resulted in the highest fruit yield, weight, length, and width for both types of kiwifruit. Thinning the fruit didn't affect its chemical properties, but spraying with CPPU at 10 ppm led to the highest sugar content and the lowest acidity. Overall, thinning with 4 fruits per shoot and using CPPU at 10 ppm produced the best quality fruits with the highest yield.
