This chapter explores how different countries handle immigration laws based on their federal systems. The United States, Canada, and Australia each have unique approaches to immigration regulation. While the US federal government has mostly taken control of immigration laws, Canada and Australia have allowed more involvement from their provinces and states. After periods of limited involvement, state and provincial governments are now becoming more active in immigration policies again. This research highlights the importance of understanding how federalism influences immigration regulation in different countries.
