They used surveys on 502 students and found that parents' education levels impact students' outlook, parents' acceptance affects optimism and pessimism through self-concept, and parenting styles influence students' self-concept. Overall, family differences can affect students' optimism and pessimism, and self-concept plays a significant part in this relationship.
