High Salt Levels Boost Protein in Cucumbers, Key to Salt Tolerance
The study looked at how salt stress affects cucumber plants. They found that as the salt concentration increased, the amount of soluble protein in the leaves first went up and then went down, peaking at 250 mmol/L of salt. Proline and MDA levels increased with higher salt levels, while chlorophyll levels decreased. This shows that the strength of salt stress impacts cucumber growth, and levels of proline, MDA, soluble protein, and chlorophyll can indicate how well cucumber plants can handle salt.
