Low Microorganism Quality in Rural Drinking Water Poses Health Risks.
The study analyzed the quality of rural drinking water in Guangzhou in 2008. They checked for various physical and chemical properties as well as microorganisms in the water. While most physical and chemical properties met the standards, the levels of microorganisms were often below the required levels. Specifically, the levels of total bacterial count, total coli group, and thermoresistant coli group were lower than recommended. To improve the quality of rural drinking water, it is crucial to focus on better sanitation and disinfection of water sources, maintain appropriate levels of free chlorine in tap water, and ensure that the water meets national standards.
