Metal-stressed major carps show poor growth in semi-intensive culture system.
The study looked at how exposure to manganese affected the growth of three types of fish: Catla catla, Labeo rohita, and Cirrhina mrigala. The fish were first exposed to manganese, which caused them to grow less. After that, they were moved to outdoor ponds and fed a special diet. The results showed that the fish that were stressed by manganese grew less and were smaller compared to the fish that were not stressed. In conclusion, the stressed fish did not grow as well as the unstressed fish when reared in semi-intensive culture systems.
