Land expropriation in China boosts farmers' land value expectations significantly.
Farmers in China who have had their land taken by the government tend to expect higher values for their remaining farmland. This is because they see their land as more scarce and valuable after experiencing expropriation. The compensation they receive also plays a big role in raising their expectations. This study used data from a survey of rural residents in 2015 to show that land expropriation can change how farmers view their land rights and economic value.
