Waste Biomass Transformed into Eco-Friendly Fuel, Slashing Pollution and Boosting Energy Efficiency
Briquettes made from blotong and bagasse can increase the value of biomass and reduce environmental pollution. By using microwave torrefaction, researchers found that longer torrefaction times resulted in briquettes with lower water content and higher calorific value and carbon content. The best briquettes had 2.1% water content, 5475.8 cal/gram calorific value, and 64.75% organic carbon content after 60 minutes of torrefaction. This shows that adjusting the torrefaction time can change the characteristics of the briquettes, making them more efficient for energy production.
