Researchers used coconut husk ash to produce silica through chemical treatments. They charred the husk at 900 ºC and treated the ashes with acid and alkali solutions. The silica content increased after both treatments, with alkali treatment yielding the highest recovery at 76%. This method shows promise for utilizing agricultural waste as a source of silica production.
